Change of Plans

I finished my little Cardinal stitch. Would you believe I had no trouble placing those branches? The last Victoria Sampler birdie I did was a booger...I think the bits of snow helped me on this one. All these little guys need are beads for their eyes and finish-finishing.

Design- "Love"
Designer - Victoria Sampler
Fabric - 32 count Jobelan, tea dyed by Daffycat
Fiber - DMC

Finishing that, I was free to start Plum Street Samplers' Twelve Days of Christmas series. Here was the fabric I was going to use. A lovely 28 count black Jobelan. Shelly, of An Arizona Stitcher gifted me a 123Stitch gift certificate for guessing the artist of a song she mentioned. I used that to purchase the fabric. Isn't it gorgeous? Carol, of Stitching Dreams often stitches Christmas ornaments on black, and they look amazing. So I was going to pull a "Carol" and stitch these freebies on that dramatic black fabric.

Then, Paulette went and added four blackbirds in the Fourth Day ornament! Noooooo! I'm glad I had to wait to start stitching. Here is my start on "A Partridge in a Pear Tree" on 32 count Daffycat-dyed Jobelan.

This means I need to find more ornaments to stitch, right? I have all that fabric, after all. Thank you so much for the fabric, Shelly!

There are still quilt rows to be sewed. They are not waiting patiently. Sitting there. Staring. At me. It's a lil' creepy...

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Love the birdies :)
And yes.... Your ornies would be stunning on that black! Pity about the blackbirds but that being said I think your current choice is lovely too :)

Good to know about Paulette's series. I haven't started it yet but will soon. I hope!

Oh my, these cardinals are so cute.
I have seen Carol's ornaments on black fabric and I really love the effect on it. Now you have to go and find some ornament patterns for your black fabric :)

Your cardinals are sweet! And I love the color of the fabric you dyed!! I want to start those ornaments very badly but I have to get some Christmas presents out of the way first. Your first one looks wonderful :)

Great start on the sal even if it required a change of plan. I'm yet to start it although I did manage to sort some fabric today.

Your cardinals look great.
Good thing you delayed your 12 Days start for the blackbirds. The black fabric would be nice for those chalkboard designs which seem to be the "thing" at the moment!

Your current choice of fabric is going to be lovely and there is no shortage of ornament patterns to go on the black. The cardinals look terrific.

The Ornaments would looked lovely on that Black Material but I also too love the material that you are stitching your Ornaments on...that is a very pretty color.

Looking forward to more progress of your Ornaments....Your Cardinal is so cute and so adorable.

Happy Stitching

Oh, what a sweet, sweet finish, Sharon. I know just what you mean about the pine needle placement issues as I have done two of these birdie designs and did struggle both times! Glad they were easier for you.

Thank you for your sweet comment on my black finishes! I always love them, too. I know you'll be able to find some great things to stitch on that gorgeous fabric very soon (Snowmen are perfect!).

Have fun with the SAL--I'm not doing it right now, but I look forward to seeing everyone else's progress.

Happy Halloween!

The Cardinals are gorgeous. I started on the 12 days yesterday but didn't get very far thanks to Rosie taking up residence on the chart

I love love love ornaments stitched on black. I did a set and entered them in the fair a couple of years ago and the judge's comments: they looked like funeral ornaments marking the death of dead family members. (to the word that is what she wrote). You and I had the same idea...I was going to stitch these on black, but...the four colly birds...SO I changed it up even more and did something different :) Love your start!
